consistency
I have had my 06 now for over a year, I have had it on a track a few times and I jsut can't get the consistency that I had with my 01. My times have been as low as 13.51 to over 14. It's awful hard to make any money bracket racing when you don't have a clue which car is going to show up when you line up or if you are going to hop the wheels on the line. For instance this past weekend, I dialed a 13.85 and said to myself just cross the line first. I defintely didn't finish first, and it felt like a good run and ran a 14.08 on a 13.85 dial. Can't win running a 1/4 sec over your dial. Does anybody else have this problem with inconsistency?
2006 GT , vista blue, K&N filter only, SCT tuner, pine scented air freshener, those chrome door lock plungers, chrome valve caps
13.51 @ 102.75
ahhh I see your problem, cherry scented make you much more consistant

Kids these days with their crazy responses... Anyhow, my car's pretty consistant (of course, it's an auto)... is your's an auto? if so, that's pretty odd, you shouldn't bounce around too much if you are launching the same (with the same track conditions). If it's a manual, that could be driver error.
Anywho, let me know, auto or manny.

You state that you've had it on the track a few times...
It takes a lot of seat time to dial in a car to run consistent. It also requires you to run it in all weather conditions as well.
So many different variables from being able to launch at a set rpm, to where you are staging (shallow/deep), track conditions, weather/temp, etc...
The best thing you can do is to just keep plugging away. If brackets are your thing, then start keeping a journal when you run and note the weather (temp, dew point, time, etc..), and log all of your runs so that you can start getting a history of how the car runs at any given condition.
As they say, Rome wasn't built in a day...To be competitive at brackets you have to be willing to put in the time to really learn the car.

I have a 07 auto GT. I'm running a Diablo 91 octane tune, 3.73 gears, and drag radial. Everything else is stock. I deep stage and footbrake between 1500rpm and 1750rpm. At a 1500 launch my RT's are .03x-.04x. 1600 give me .02's, and 1750 is full kill .00x but sometimes -.00x. Normal competition I go for a .020 light. Depending on the time of year I can run 13.55 to a 14.55. Car is very predictable. Last weekend I went 13.99, 14.02, and 14.00 (Gave the stripe back but that another story). Changes in ET were due to weather changes. I have a weather station and I record the DA, air temp, rel humidity, and barometer for each run. My car changes .01 with every 100' of DA.Side note if theair temp hits the dew point you will not run any faster requardless ofwhat the DA tell you to do. If you have a stick its really hard to drive consistant enought to be predicatable to dial. It's imperative to stage the car in exactly the same spot every time. Not easy. Too deep will give you a better light, increase 60' and increase ET. Too shallow will increase your reaction time, quicken your 60' and quicken your ET. Tire spin is another issue. You really need to dead hook or spin exactly the same every time. Weather and track conditions add factors. Better air will make the car pickup. Wind speed and direction. If your suddenly get a 15mph tail wind your going to pick up .03 to .04. If the track sprays the starting line or if you run right after Super Pro you will hook better resulting in a quicker 60' and quicker ET's. Pay attention to your car's temp as well. I always run my car at normal operation temps. Not only water temp but oil temp and trans temp. Its takes a while to fully warm up the engine oil. My car is at the same temps for the first time shot or running round robin at the end of the day. I never try ice down things to get a "better" ET. I always show up at the track with a full tank of gas so the car's weight is always the same.Shoot me a pm if you want to discuss anything.
I just realized that I didn't have 5sp in my sig....sorry guys. I guess I should elaborate a bit more. Before my 06 I had an 01 5sp, it ran like a train. Anywhere between 14.2 and 14.3 no matter the weather or any other variable. I know the 06 has more power , but not that much..... Off the line I don't hear any tire squeal, I leave at 3000 rpm, shift at 5000, don't powershift, but just can't get any consistency. Like I said its been in the mid 13s to low 14s. I don't want drag radials because I drive the car to the track and would like to drive it home in one piece. Overall, I really like the new Stang except for the lack of consistency on the track. Driver error? Please critisize me, I can take it
