Im not arguing against the facts.
Fact: 3v is superior to 2v < - i agreed with this
Fact: the 3v's cost quite a bit more than a 2v for the whole car < -- i agree with this
Opinion: The cost of a 3v car isnt worth it to ME! because for the same price i could get a C5 z06 or a 03-04 Cobra in some cases.
So they are a bit lighter, but are geared less favorably and have less power/torque.
When I had just the axle-backs, a K&N drop-in, and a canned tune I ran my friend's '02 GT with CAI, canned tune, full exhaust, and 3.73s. We ran it 5 times, and I took 3 out of 5. The two cars were running pretty much even, though. Whoever got the jump, got the win. I wasn't powershifting, though. I only had my car for 2 months at the time and I was still learning it.
Oh, I had also pulled out the pre-catalytic in the stock intake tube when we raced. Supposedly good for 5hp.
or at the very least a really clean LS1 Fbody.
That may be true... I never claimed to be literate.
This is what I was refering too... while you do state the 3v is superior (I didn't call you retarded so I didn't over look that fact) you also downplayed the difference (which I typically see from a certain group of individuals)...
Sorry if I hit a nerve but you seem to be the only one who doesn't think 40hp is 'significant'...
If you think 3v is to 2v as LS1 is to LT1 you are sadly mistaken.
The LS1 is vastly superior to the LT1, such is not the case with the 3v.
It IS superior...but it wasnt as big a jump as it should have been

If you'd prefer an almost decade old f-body to a 3 year old Mustang, that's all you, man. I know the LS1 has plenty of mod potential(as does just about everything), but I sure wouldn't go this route.
Then again, I am a Mustang fan-boy, so again I say to each their own.

Your right, you can find z06's and termi's that cheap, but both will have high mileage. A buddy of mine picked up a 02 z06 for 21,000 but it had something like 60,000 on the clock. I personally would rather have a newer, low mileage car, especially since a lot of people with sports cars beat on them. To me, the difference in performance is not worth the headaches that could come along with a high mileage car. Really, I'd rather buy the 06 GT down the street from me that has 7,000 miles for $21,000 than a z06 with 60,000 miles for the same price.
