Well if your going to use the advertised numbers then it would technically be
310-305hp - 285-275hp =
You can't compare factory claims from one and the actual output of another.
FWIW 345 - 305 = 40hp
Some models (both on lt1 and ls2 cars) make more but 40ish hp is the difference.

What is slipping past the 2v fanboy here is the fact that the 3V is carrying around more weight vs the F-body LS1/LT1 cars were still similar curb weights.
Drop a 3v in a 99 - 04 Mustang GT and line it up at the track with a 2v 99-04 mustang and come tell me the results are 'close' when it's over.
new edges are iron block, but you can get aluminum 2v longblocks for pretty cheap if you so desire.
I never said the 3v wasnt superior. It would be quite dumb of Ford not to improve the output of the motor when changing generations.
Its just not an improvement worth the extra 7-10k it costs to purchase an S197 over a new edge.

Also, you aren't paying just for an extra valve. The S197 brings a Tremec tranny, aluminum block and heads, bigger and better brakes, smoother and sportier suspension, better rear-end gearing, an interior that is no where near as cheap looking, and automatic windows down AND up. The fact that it has a great response to mods is just a bonus.
If that isn't worth extra $, I don't know what is.
As far as how the car looks, that is a matter of biased opinion. I think the S197 is EXACTLY what a Mustang should look like. Some people like the new edges better, and that's fine. Without opinions, we'd all be the same and would have nothing to debate about on forums. I personally don't like any Mustang from 1994-2004 looks-wise. They look good, but not enough for ME to buy one. I bought the S197 because I think the platform is beautiful: I'd a bought it even if the older body style out-performs it.
all 01.5 + GTs had a Tremec 3650 just like the one in your precious 05
I think the new edges look a lot better than the s197s....there are a lot of S197s i like (yours looks great) but for some most of the "out of the box" ones look real bland to me.
As far as S8erony or whatever...im such a fanboy that in every single post in this thread ive said the 3v is superior to the 2v. Such a fanboy
I personally dont think that the marginal gain of the 3v was worth the extra 7-10k price tag. I bought my car with 34k on it 2 years ago which is about what most 05/06's had on them as well.

First, thanks for the compliment.
I didn't know the '01+ Stangs all brought a Tremec; I thought that was new to the S197.
As far as the "precious" comment goes: You're damn right, precious! I feel the earlier body style was too rounded and "euro" looking for the Mustang label. That is why the boxier, retro look of the S197 screamed at me when it was first introduced. After a decade of bubble-Mustangs, it was so refreshing to see it look the way it does now......
I can say this: It is going to take a good, long while for me to adjust to the 2010 Mustang if it is going to look like what I've seen so far.

Nail on the head.... for the most part.

Just an FYI, the S197 cars weigh maybe another 100 pounds more than their New Edge counterparts (save for the SVTs). It's basically not even that big of a difference to say the newer mustangs are heavy when the older ones weren't that light either.
I thought it was more like ~200lbs... hmmm... I guess I bought into the 2V campaign of how light there cars are.
