Can the GTR hack it?............NOPE
I was actually looking forward to the GTR, kind of sucks it's transmission is made out of glass.
Hell the Mercedes transmission in mine does pretty well in other peoples cars with 600+rwhp... With no upgrades done to them, all in a 40k dollar car. Why the hell is a 70k+ (sticker, 100k+ with markup) equipped with such a POS transmission???
I can't talk too much, I did blow the stock half shaft (left half shaft) out in mine on a hard launch (street) just after I had it tuned for the new mods back in August lol, had to go out and buy those *** rapingly expensive aftermarket half shafts... God I wish there was a SRA swap for this car. But the stock replacements for a half shaft sure as **** isn't 20k dollars, hell the aftermarket ones were 2k.
Bah, guess the Japs went the way of the Europeans way of designing a supercar... Make it super bad *** but make it out of easily breakable items and make sure replacing said items costs 1/4 or more of the total vehicle cost (regardless of part).

Although I admit, the GTR is a very cool, fast car, I do not believe these features are good enough to justify having to purchase a brand new $20,000 transmission after using the Nissan designed and implemented launch control 20 times. It is quite syupid of them to advertise its 1/4 mile and 0-60 times if the car breaks from actually accomplishing those.
I think Nissan should make an air conditioner that will be advertised as "the coldest air conditioning ever" and it can go from "90-60 degrees in 3.1 seconds" and if you use it as designed it breaks.

Yeah seriously, good luck finding a dealer that will sell you a GTR at MSRP. The GTR my buddy and I were checking out the other day at the Nissan dealer in south Charlotte had a sticker of ~71k and the salesperson told us that they hadn't sold a single one for less than $100,000. He wouldn't let us sit in it or even open the door... he even said HE wasn't allowed to open the door. LOL... we were like give me a ****in break!
I think the "Best Driver's Car of 2008" award is pretty ironic, considering that particular car basically drives the driver around the track. They should give it the "Best Noob Driver's Car of 2008" award instead :P

assuming I have three hands....
in one hand I have a BMW M5

the other I have a Mercedes CL63 AMG

and the other I have a Nissan GT-R

regarding this pricerange am I the only one that rules out the GT-R first? just wondering.... it's a cool car and all but nissan started knocking on a door it couldn't open when they started breaking into six figure MSRP's IMO, and the car breaking and having reliability issues after all the hype is just proof nissan should just stick to making affordable family sedans and mid range sportscars

screw the GTR, i'll take a 1953 BRM before i ever even drive a GTR. (the BRM is a much more radical car, supercharged 1.5L 16 cylinder monster that made 600+WHP bone stock, and it only weighed about 2000lbs)
