I'm amazed you found enough highway in front of you for any kind of run on that highway.

 

it was about 10 at night so there wasnt much traffic at all.

 

do you have more mods than the ones posted in your sig? I would figure the 4.10s would kill you on the highway....
another thing is why do people say the autos are slower? At the track street tire to street tire i can't run faster times than the auto S197s there always faster (ones with similiar mods) on my drag radials its a different story. I just wouldnt knock on the autos

 

4.10's would only "kill" you on the highway if your highway is the autobahn . Most of my highway races have been in the 60/70-120mph range and thats the sweet spot with 4.10's and the 3650 gearing.

I just wish I had a .62 6th gear. then I'd be in heaven.

Yeah It also depends on your powerband with 4.10 gears, since my GT would totally suck on roll races, but now with the new cams, its a different story.

 

Because highway racing has nothing to do w/ "launching" at which most auto's have an adv because the "avg" guy (even though my stock time below are faster then most stock auto's I've seen) cant launch a car.

second, a Manuel transmission car puts down more RWHP then a AUTO (at least, for stangs).

 

4.10's actually will help your top speed. It takes alot of HP to turn a big gear. With 4.10's, the engine doesn't have to work as hard. It's aerodynamically impossible to reach top speed in these cars...unless of course your're pushing over 1000HP.

Oh...and I've never lost to S197 manual.. or auto as a matter of fact. At the strip on on the street. All had CAI/Tunes..one even had LT's. Wait..I did lose once...he was packing a procharger.

I agree with johnnyv...most guys can't launch a manual w/o DR's.

I am sorry but i dont see your mods beating a S197 even if it was auto.
