yea that is true...i ran up against the eclipse gts (i THINK thats what its called, not the gt, but the fastest 4 cyl version) and i beat him. it was one of the newer 2000-05 body styles. (i know nothing of eclipses so lol)

GTS has 5 more HP over the GT

eh... no... the wedge shaped Celicas with the red GTS badges have 180 hp over the GT's 140 horses. The GTS also has a slick 6 speed vs the auto or 5M in the GT.

The new ones have 263 hp...but there really heavy and they only run like 14.8@93 in the quarter...with your mods you should have been pretty close...A 5 speed could have made the difference.
If I remeber right they ran something like 14.2 at 103? or something. The 2000-2005 ones are slower but the new 06 ones are comparable to most gt's.

Can anyone tell me how much HP the new body style Mitsubish Eclipse GT would have. I would say that Eclipse was atleast a 2000 but I would say it was newer than that. But I raced one today on 664 in VA from about 70 to 110, I will admit I lost but he never really did pull on me that much. I started on his rear so I already had that disadvantage, but from what I say he only got about a car on me until we stopped at about 110. So I was just wondering how much HP this car has. I don't know if it was an auto or manual. But I have a 2000 Automatic V6 Mustang, with a Flowmaster Dual Exhaust, a CAI, and a 73mm Mass Air Meter. So just wonder what else I would need to do to keep up with one of these, because he didn't have me by much.

Thanks for any help,

Mike

Where is that in VA? I am in Roanoke...any where near there? prolly not...[>:]

He is in the Hampton Roads area of VA. I live in Williamsburg, He is reasonably close to me. We are a little ways away from Roanoake. The new Eclipse according to mag times are 14.5 to 14.8 at 95 to 100.

I know the feeling, got to be careful though. This weekend I had a similar situation except it wasn't an engine revving provocation, the bastard went out of his way to cut me off 3 times. I dropped it into second and walked all over him. Apparently, Johnny Law also saw me serve him his *** and didn't like it too much. Damn, good thing he was on his way to another incident and only stopped me long enough to tell me to chill out, LOL.

I was just reading what "ride of the month" said. He said that my V6 is governed at 112. If that is correct my speedo must be way off. Because my speedo goes to 120 and when I bought the car a little over a year ago I hit the 120 then I hit the stopper that is about 5mph past that and I was still going. So is it true that the 2000 V6 is really governed to 112 or no and if so how do I find out if mine has been changed to go faster, because I find it hard to believe that the speedo and the digital read out is off by that much?

112mph limiter seems really low for the 2000 , espcially since the 99's and earlier didn't have one at all. oh well, Not that I care.
