Cobalt SS
Well don't expect any future SS's to be coming out.
DETROIT -- General Motors, focusing on mainstream products in a battle to survive, has scrapped a unit that produced high-performance vehicles.
GM today disbanded High Performance Vehicle Operations, which is based at the company's suburban Detroit technical center, and redeployed its engineers, said spokesman Vince Muniga.
"All high-performance projects are on indefinite hold," Muniga said. "The engineers are moving into different areas of the organization, and they will work on Cadillacs, Buicks, Chevrolets and Pontiacs."
The unit created low-volume vehicles for GM's divisions designed to appeal to enthusiasts and bolster the company's image. Products included V-series Cadillacs and the Chevrolet Cobalt SS, HHR SS and a V-8 version of the Colorado.
Muniga said there are no plans for high-performance versions of upcoming cars. The move is in the spirit of GM's viability plan delivered to the U.S. Treasury Department on Tuesday. In the plan, GM said its future-product focus is on fuel- efficient cars and crossovers. It also pledged to increase its current offering of six hybrids to 14 by 2012 and to 26 by 2014. GM also boosted its request for federal aid by as much as $16.6 billion.
The High Performance Vehicle Operations unit could be reinstated once GM regains its financial health, GM's Muniga said.

I think the country is already in a heap of trouble. I'm a gov't employee which pretty much exempts us from much of the pain but watching my TSP go to crap hasn't been fun.
I was curious to watch the aftermarket companies' plans for the new camaro. Ah well... nobody's buying anything right now anyway. We'll probably see the rare modded camaro on the street.. the rest will be the older guys purchasing their middle-age hot rods ala challenger

Either being stock you won't have a problem with a SC/TC. I woudn't go as far as over looking a SC though considering the fastest SS (individual owned)to date is just a 2.85 pullied stock blower SC. Alot of people think it's just about hp when suspension and alike are a big factor on a Cobalt. Hmm.. Cacimar, did you see the GB on the TVS? Surprisingly they sold 40 of them.

For like 8 months.. There have been many tuned and bolted TC's that have been to the track.Though, Obviously I was using the info as a refrence (that either SS are potent modded and one shouldn't be over looked.)Yes, a SC holds the current record and thats why I brought it up considering a well driven SC can run 12.75's with a little over $2500 in it.There is more to the original post and it wasn't meant as a direct comparison for superiority between the SC and TC. Haha, besides with a aftermarket turbo kit there pretty much the same animal.
Though that you bring this up I noticed this and it has me wondering which one really is the fastest..

LOL, you seriously havent seen or heard anything!! Over on the Cobaltss forums there is a battle going on daily of an SS/TC vs. an SS/SC, it happens all the time. TC owners talking sh*t about how the SC owners should give up, and then the SC owners saying that they still reign supreme. It's a daily struggle over there.
