Don't give them ANYTHING! If you're arrested, immediately invoke your right to an attorney.

The BEST advice. I always act dumb as hell when pulled over. Yes sir, thank you sir, may i have another sir etc. and don't provide ANY information. yes/no answer is appropriate.

yep, saying something is the worst thing to do, BUT, he wasn't arrested, just given a ticket. Taking an attorny is going to be more expensive, but most likely worth it.
This is one reason why I can't stand these new laws......last time I checked it was 'innocent until proven guilty' right? Now you will have to take a day off work, sit in a court room for 4 hours so some dumbass judge can tell you that your insurance rates are going to triple no matter what you say. Sorry about this (I'm not going to lecture you) but this is why I don't even look when somebody tries to race me. Around here you never know who is a cop. We have cop cars that are pickups, camaros and so on. My suggestion is to consult a lawyer. With a racing black mark on your record, insurance is going to be expensive all because some cop was having a bad day or he was in the mood to screw over a Mustang driver.
I was once pulled over on woodward in michigan for a tint violation. I was doing 35 mph in a 40 zone. He said I could get a ticket for my side windows being tinted. I guess he didn't look at my plate (check my sig)

Mostly people who have had bad experiences with police because they were doing something they shouldn't have been in the first place. Then when cops show up to save their butts they are gratefull.
I would guess there is a little more to the story than the OP led us to beleive. There are three sides to each story, your's, his and the truth. That's what the judge will decide.
If you fight this in court, I have seen alot of judges make the fines and penalties worst than what you were looking at before.
Quit trying to race your car in town where cops are hanging around.
There's a time and place.

PS my sister is a cop, I told her this story and she just shook her head. I don't hate when cops pull people over for doing something stupid or dangerous, I have a HUGE problem when they pull people over for revenue.
