I would guess there is a little more to the story than the OP led us to beleive. There are three sides to each story, your's, his and the truth. That's what the judge will decide.

If you fight this in court, I have seen alot of judges make the fines and penalties worst than what you were looking at before.

Quit trying to race your car in town where cops are hanging around.

There's a time and place.

x2... it's the officers call if he wants to enforce things.. most of the items mentioned below by USMCrebel are easily dismissed in court with documented proof. The officers job is enforcing the law.. it's the courts job to figure out what your intent was based on circumstances. In Illinois it's illegal to cross tracks if the red lights are still flashing..happens ALL the time here but I will never do it. Sounds like a stupid law but it has a purpose. Sucks that it happened to you USMCrebel but it can be cleared up easily IMHO.. as far as the officers attitude they are just people so experiences will vary.

I certainly wouldn't apply your experience to what everyone else will experience. Around here if you get a ticket like that the cop will tell you 'bring proof to court and it will get dismissed' It saves them from having to 'take your word for it' and then get burned on it later when they discover you lied to them.
