Tried again.. FAIL
Yep you definitely want to be able to do "as good as" the machine. I was reading a comparo this weekend between the Maro SS, Challenger R/T, and '10 Mustang. The Maro ran in two modes. TC on and TC off. TC on was something like 5.2 0'60 mph and a 1/4 of 13.4ish? That's 2010 Stang territory. Driver mod (same driver as before) was 5.0 0-60 and 13.0 1/4 mile or something to that effect. Anyways, moral of the story, the dude knew how to rip it. His trap speed was also a few mph higher than the TC'd run.
So, a litte off topic here, if you run into the new Maro SS (in stock form) in either a lightly modded S197GT or a stock 2010 GT it's a Drivers race.

Here's some bluntness: I can practice trying to dunk a basketball for the rest of my life...not EVER gonna happen....I can accept that. Maybe it's time to face the facts. You lack the coordination to launch...accept it. Maybe you need a "***** auto"
If you read the OP it's something I might consider if I can't figure this out sooner or later. There is a point sure. Should it take 60+ launches to learn how to do this? I don't know. I doubt it.
sounds like the track prep is non-existent. You gotta take into consideration how many launches there have been from that same spot on the track. Maybe a d/r are your best bet.
Let somebody else try a few launches and compare notes. It might be driver error. I have essentially the same car and I'm a pretty consistently 2.0 - 2.1
PS i have no idea where the track is that tou are making these runs is at, but my best time was done at Norwalk Ohio, which has been called the best track in the country and the track prep is second to none in my opinion.

Mishri runs 2.1 60' times out there. I'm consistently about 3 tenths worse than him getting out of the hole. He thinks his 4.10 gears are helping him get better times but I keep coming back to AmericanSpeed and what some others have done around here with stock cars. Hard to see given that how the gears have much of an effect over that short distance.
I think that 4.10s will be overkill with the street tires, though the 4.10s won't effect an auto on launch as much as they would you. You have the ability to launch your car at any rpm, stock autos don't. Your gearing is more than enough to get the full potential 60' out of those street tires.
Slipping your clutch will allow you car's rpm to be higher than your wheel speed, preventing your car from bogging when the tires "hook". Say you rev the **** out of your car, drop the clutch, and it dead hooks, well, the tire speed is going to bog the engine down due to the fact that the speed of the wheels is much lower than where the rpms are (taking you way out of powerband).
