I had a 2000 Mustang GT. My good friend currently owns an E46 M3 that I have been in several time and that I have DRIVEN twice. Other than suspension work, the car is bone stock. I can tell you, for fact, that it will paste your car from a roll - 3.73's and all. There is nothing fair about that matchup. If you said you had DR's and the other guys f'ed up his launch, I could see it. But where the E46 M3 shines is on the highway (and on a road course). The car redlines at 8,000 rpm and make its power all up top. If he was in the right gear and shifted at redline, you would have been 5-6 cars back and fading like you just shut your car off.
I am not ragging on your car (I am a Mustang lover) or calling BS. But an E46 M3 is a MUCH faster car than yours. It's 333 hp, 3400 pounds, and runs a low 13 at 105-107 in the 1/4. If a 3.73 geared New Edge can do that, then I stand corrected. But the key number is the trap. Even the M3 vert wil trap 105+. He should have murdered you from a roll.

For the record, I have only seen a Bone Stock New Edge run low 14's with a Pro driver in ideal conditions. However, I don't see 3.73's increasing the 1/4 mile by several tenths and 2-3 MPH+. Also, Bullitts Don't breathe better per se. Same stock heads as the 2V GT, and a crappy intake to boot, compared to a real aftermarket one.
Again, the M3 has better gearing for top end, better Aero, weighs less, and makes more power at the tires. What is hard to believe that since anything can happen, the OP raced a guy that was not that great of a driver.
A win is a win yes, but, I get the feeling by what has been said, that it's always going to be a drivers race with a Stock 2V GT Vs. M3. In case many forgot, the 3V GT is faster than the 2V GT, and still gets beat by competent M3 Drivers. See what I mean ?
