More Civics
I've heard of people getting 210+ whp with a full bolt on k20, before gettting the hondata reflash. With the reflash, or Cobb's new accessport for them they get something like 220-230 whp, not too shabby for a bolt on 2.0L IMO.
I'm sorry I miss read the info. With the Cobb AP and I/H/E SIs are getting something like 215-220whp, but they pick up something like 20-25 whp in the 4600-6400 rpms range. So they get a decent power jump with the right bolt-ons, but I'd prefer either a turbo/supercharger for any real power.
^true quick....with 4 cly, turbo is they best but at 18+ psi......ive seen and ran a comptech s/c'ed rsx k20 that put down 280-290whp.... once again, i could be wrong.... haha, but i dont think they can break 300whp at max boost..... if they want that, its time for a motor re-build..... btw, ran that rsx in my sti
I have an 07 Si as my DD so I've talked to people who mod them from time to time. From what I understand it's more of the stock high compression of 11.X:1 that limits the boost in stock K20s. There are people who replaced the pistons with pieces that bring the CR down to around 9:1 and they put down 350+whp on stock blocks, rods, and cranks. I'm not too sure of the max power for a stock k20, but people run something likw 10 psi on stock internals, so IDK.
I read a lot about them when I had my 08 SI trying to find the right solution. AJP probably has the best turbo set up(s) for them so far. They have been getting around 300whp out of them on the stock block, but I can't remember the exact limit in which they recommend a built engine. It seems like the 350whp mark is where they recommend sleeving, and +400whp required everything be built. Its called All Jap Performance if you want to google them. They also have a ton of youtube vids up that are pretty impressive. Comptech also has a really basic roots charger that makes 230whp on an otherwise stock car, and 250whp with full exhaust, but you all know how inefficient blowers are on a 4 cylinder.
There is a civic meet in edgewater NJ, I've been there a few times and for the most part, the real tuners have some pretty serious rides. Last time I was there, I saw an 07, that looked just like mine with a custom turbo setup, and the guy way running a gt3076 or something like that. He was just about 300 whp, but with tons of hp and tq as early as like 3k rpms. I was really impressed with the car.

It doesn't do too bad, like I said, it makes great power st like 3K rpms, but great power with those cars is like 180 whp at 3k rpms lol. He said he had plans to sleave it, and build a forged rotating assembly with pistons that should produce in the 9:1 range for the CR, and with cams and a ported head I can imagine the car easily putting out over 450 whp. The only problem is I can't think of a way to use it for that car.
