Default Another run, 650i Vert

I'm having trouble finding a whole lot of performance info on these Beemers. There's plenty of reviews about all of the amenities, but no 1/4 mile stats, etc. Basically, I had to work today, and on my way out of downtown a convertible 650i and I were side by side as the stoplights ended and the road opened back up. We were right next to a concrete divider, so every exhaust note was audible. I goosed it to see if wanted to play, which he did. He was at my back bumper since I had just given it a little throttle. I was watching him in my passenger rear view mirror when he punched it and started coming past me. I hit too as soon as he did, but he already had the jump and had me at his back bumper now. I stayed in it and pulled back up to midway of his door, then I quit because we were already running close to or over 80 mph. We started at 45 mph or so. I'm assuming it was the na 4.8 or whatever cause the 2012 650 is a turbo V8 making 400 hp and 450 lb torque, with an 8 speed trans. No idea what they weigh, or what the older NA 650 weighs, makes power wise, or how the trans is set up. Any knowledge about these cars is appreciated. For all I know he was toying with me.

I had a newish "quarter till 8" do a flyby on me on a 45mph road.... I wanted to give chase, but decided against it. I have no idea about most beemers, but I'll try n find any info.

I think you could handle a 745 pretty easy. I think anyway.

According to the following links, he may have been "***** to the wall".
The new ones have plenty of hp and torque, but the vert is a 2.3 ton overweight grunter.

Damn, that sucker is 100lbs heavier than my SS! And its classified as a subcompact due to a tiny back seat

Judging by their trap speed however, and the fact that we were rolling, I'd say it had to of been the NA 650.

There are tons of fast street cars in the area, stock and modded. Plenty of high end crap too. Seems like everybody has a quick car these days. Believe it or not, I had a pretty long dry spell until recently. My commute to work is definitely not the best place for such stunts, but sometimes I can't stand it and give in.

How did that run with the Legacy turn out?

hard to tell since neither of us would hit it at the same time and i have no horn to honk it off. either i'd get the jump and pull on him or he'd get the jump and i'd have to play catch up. but they were all on the highway and 60-120 pulls so it's my weakest spot and i still pulled surprisingly.

Good kill Stone. I'd say it was definitely a N/A 650i as the TT V8 would probably have been a better race and might have pulled out on you. Had it been the earlier 645i, you would have easily walked it.

Also, when they went with the TT V8 in 2011 they also updated the styling, so if it looked like this it was a 2011+:

This is what the older models looked like:

Nice one stone! Good kill.

Ever since I turned down the evening shift at work, it seems I miss all the fun around my area lol. =(

And when I do find someone, its always in traffic.
