Default RE: Overflow

Sorry for my paranoia but the track I am going to is over an hour drive one way, and I would really hate to get all the way there and get sent home. Waste of my time, and a tank of gas... Just to make sure everything is cool I will post the rules here and you can tell me if my stock 02 is good. The overflow I take it, I already have but what about the battery hold down? I plan to go up this wendsday so help is much apreciated. Here are the rules:

No slicks allowed. Street tires required (DOT Approved racing tires acceptable).
No bald tires allowed.
Open exhaust not allowed
Co-driver allowed in all vehicles running 14.00 seconds or slower
Seat belts are required
Overflow can for radiator
Battery hold down bracket
.500 Full Tree using manual start
Vehicles must comply with safety and equipment requirements as outlined by the current IHRA Rule Book.
Vehicles must be street legal and able to pass state safety inspection.
Nitrous oxide permitted and must be installed according to the provisions outlined in the current IHRA Rule Book.
Factory (OEM) installed computers allowed, but no lap top computers are allowed while in competition.
Valid state driver’s license required. Learner’s permits are not acceptable.
Helmets (Snell 90 or newer) required for all vehicles running 13.99 or quicker.
Drivers and co-drivers are required to wear long pants, a shirt, socks and shoes.

well, unless you removed it, you should have a battery hold down...you should also surely have a rad overflow...the fact of the matter is that with a stock car, its not going to be All that fast, and generally if youre in a showroom stock car, and they find something minor, they will tell you to fix it before next time...

The coolant "leak" I was refering to was because when I got my car serviced, the genius filled my radiator fluid way to highw ith a cold engine. Next hot day riding hard there was antifreeze on the ground. I was nervious until I looked under the hood to see it coming out of the cap. Doesn't do that once the levels were back to normal. Ok so wendsday is my big day, I can't wait. With the Yokohamas I have (I think AVID 4 or something, street tires) should I drop the clutch or let it out agressivly? At or around what RPM? Also without traction control what are the odds I hurt myself? Just some newbie info please....

well thats good it wasnt an actual leak. wat a dumbass for overfilling it. nah dont drop the clutch. thats what i did and just peeled out like a bitch. find where you are on the edge of peeling out. its easier than you think. just relax and keep the wheel strait and have fun. but im also a newbie at this stuff so you will have to ask other peeps.

Ok tomorow is the day! Not only do I get my windows tinted during the day, but afterwards I am heading up to the track. After looking over all the rules (NHRA track, so strick rules) I think I am ok. The radiator has an overflow, but I defantly don't have a battery tie down. I think I will hit up lappens and see if I can get something real quick, also I need to find or buy a SNELL or DOT helmet. As for the tie down, can I get any old thing or what? Thanks in advance for all your help.

My first time..LONG ago, I threw a bungee cord in the trunk. I played stupid, and they let me run with the bungee cord holding the battery down. So long as I didn't get below 13.99. BUT..they were waiting for me the next time I teched. So try that, but GET THE TIE DOWN! Theres acid in that battery. and IF, God forbid, it breaks open, accident..big bump, you'll get acid all over the engine bay!
Good luck at the track!
