Default RE: stall raise question

ORIGINAL: jrxs_racer

well i went to the tranny shop today to get my exact stall guess what, its only like 18-1900 so now i think there is something wrong with my tranny, because it doesnt wanna grab until 32-3300, so now im pissed becase i want a bigger stall like around 2800 to support a cam i want in the future. but i thought i had alot better tranny and i bragged it up but i guess not, also i see why i didnt pick much up in the 1/4
Let me guess some trans shop foot braked your car and told you that you have a 1900 rpm stall because thats where the rpm's went to right before the tiresstarted to spin? You cannot tell what the true stall is on a converter without taking it out of the trans and testing it. Even then engine torque, rear gears and vehicle weight will all play a roll in how high a convertor will actually stall. If you want tires that actually work but still have decent tread life go for the BFG drag radial, mine have lasted 5000 miles so far and there is still plenty of life left in them, I don't do random burnouts on them though, plain and simple Nitto's do hook as well. Launching off idle with street tires and a stall will not really get you anywhere, and trying to figure out whats wrong with the car when it is spinning is like trowing darts with a blindfold on. You 60' time should be at least 1.9 or better, get tires and try differant launch tecniques, my bet is you will see a big differance.
