It's not worthless crap though. It's a real point. He's arguing that one car is a POS because he's seen two, total, broken down.

But a WELL KNOWN POS apparently isn't a POS to him because his dad has had two decent ones.


The thing that kills me is that he doesn't realize that EVOs are beaten on, while Taurus's aren't.

 

I dunno about that. EVO's might get beaten on the track, but people generally maintain a car like that better than a taurus. Some non-car people probably have running taurii that only get oil changes every 3 years. and he did talk about the mitsu mechanic saying it was a POS as well. mitsubishi doesn't exactly have a great rep in the car world (even worse than the "american car" rep).

 

the car in my sig ran 16s when i got it. i am the second owner, and the original owner had all of his work done with my dad while he worked at a dealership, then when my dad left, the owner went to his new shop. (the guy was a friend of the family, and a neighbor) my dad keeps very precise records, and from 1983 when the car was purchased new, to when i bought it in 1994, he only had record of three oil changes. with the gears it ran high 16s with the emissions crap all hooked up, and i never left second gear...when we finally pulled the motor, the lifter valley was so full of carbon that there were channels where the pushrods sat. not all cars that are not precisely maintained fall apart. taurii, on the other hand, are crap for the most part. because someone knew one person that had good luck, like i did with my car, is called a standard outlier. im sure the redass knows what im talking about, many of the rest of you may not. (both with the stat talk, and with the mention of a lifter valley and pushrods )

while mitsu doesnt have the reputation that say, toyota or honda does for long lasting quality, keep in mind, they did come up with the 4g63, which can, and has been built to be one of the more powerful 4 cylinder engines in the tuning world, which many people also wont understand. (see brent rau's non-intercooled 4g63 powered 2nd gen eclipse running 6.90s)

 

if you tried to put your motor back together with all the gunk still in it, I bet it wouldn't have run. all the carbon was prolly holding it together

 

probably...but it didnt use any oil, and ran a 4100lb car into the high 16s, i think that its best was somethign like a 16.80 before the work went into the car...i was 16 when i was running that carboned up engine, and it seemed awfully fast. i actually still have the engine somewhere...

 

ehh not to burst any of ur bubbles but yeah mitisu isnt exactly the greatest car company out there either, but at the same time, neither is ford...hell besides the mustang, explorer, and expedition, i dont even LIKE ford... hell my friends nissan has kept breaking down the past two months...but nissan is supposed to be one of those top quality companies


conclusion...ALL car companies aren't gonna be perfect, theres always gonna be a bad crop of vehicles in a company, im sure bmw and mercedes has their hare of lemons sometimes as well....

the reason....were all human, we all make mistakes, were all not perfect there is always going to be error in almost everything we do...deal with it...

there is a pretty good sized club in northern ohio of colt/mirage owners, with some of them running in the 10s with 4g63s....here are some pictures i took of one of them...this is NOT a photoshop. this one ran high 11s/ low 12s...
