Who would win?
well.. i've seen times posted from GREAT 05 drivers hitting 13.5 at the best, but i've seen the same from LS1 drivers. actually a little better than that. but i've also seen slips posted that have 05s going mid 14s all day and same with LS1 cars. like 2000si said, the better driver.
If i had to put my money on the race i'd have to go with the 05 GT, ive been in an 05 Gt and a 2000 Camaro z28 and id have to say the 05 gt would win even if they were Auto, even the 05 v6 mustangs are pretty quick cars, they are much improved and shift much quicker than the old ones

Auto for auto, probably the Camaro. Auto Camaro vs manual Mustang, could go either way. I have an auto and baaaarely pulled on a manual '05 with a driver who obviously knew what he was doing (shifted quickly, didn't fall back between shifts).

I think you're trying to go by the seat of the pants feel, which can be misleading. My car feels like molasses but runs mid-low 13s at 106.

I'm not trying to just judge by a seat of the pants feel, but i think if these two cars ran in a quarter the 05 gt would win, but really its too hard to judge which car would actually win, so many different variables, ive seen the 05 gt put up some mid 13's and ive seen some z28s also in the 13's but ive also seen an 00 mustang gt beat a 99 z28 both manual and both stock, the z28 caught up towards the end but it was too late. ive also seen my friends basically stock manual 96 mustang gt with only flowmaster exhaust and h-pipe beat a auto 98 trans am (non ws6) with flowmasters, it was only an 1/8th of a mile but my friends mustang had at least a car to a car and a half on this trans am, this was rather interesting considering i thought the trans am would have waxed his car but in this case i would just say race the 05 gt and post the results because there are gonna be some people with their z28s that will beat the 05 gt and some 05 gt's that will beat the z28 but mainly i think it will all come down to the driver

If it were both good drivers then it would be neck and neck all the way to the end, but the camero would probably streak out a win by a foot or so since they both have almost the exact same 1/4 mile ratings. But for regular drivers, the better of the two would win.
