The risk of breakage at autocross is extremely low, assuming that your car is in good mechanical condition to begin with. If it's an SCCA event, there are course standards with respect to distances from the course line to fixed objects and other things you don't want to be hitting.

There is nothing wrong with driving a car in its 100% stock configuration - SCCA has a whole category called "Stock" where you are only allowed to do a few things. If nothing else, you'll get a better idea about what you want the car to do differently (as well as what you as a driver may need to do differently).

Alright, thanks Norm, that's what I wanted to hear and by a few things do you mean like a few bolt ons as long as they don't change the car too much? I have changed the exhaust and CAI but that is it performance wise.

'Stock' lets you change the exhaust system (from the cat back), shocks/struts, air filter element (generally a swap to cold air or any associated tune is not stock-legal). Aftermarket wheels that are the same diameter and width as OE, with offset within 1/4" of OE, are allowed. As are any DOT tires that you can fit.

Cold air probably moves you to either Street Touring or Street Prepared.

Stock also lets you run "R-compound" tires, which are much grippier than anything you'd normally drive around on daily. I'm mentioning this mostly to suggest that suspension mods aren't required for strength reasons, as the stock pieces are still sufficiently strong.

You can probably download the latest SCCA Solo rules from SCCA.com.
