Gear Question??
Well i just recently found out that the rearend of my cobra is about to go out on me and it is going to have to be rebuilt. i know the car came stock with 3.27's, well i want to put 3.73's in place of the stock gears, but i don't know anything about gears and all that so thats why i need everyone's help, if i change the gears in the rearend how is it going to affect the car, will there be any draw backs to it and will it mess up my transmission or anything like that. All the info possible would be a great help.

RE: Gear Question??
What car do you have right now? Year/model?
I have 4.10's in my cobra.. it REALLY wakes the car up.. 3.73s arent bad either.. I have had them in 2 previous stang's..
It wont mess up your tranny or anything like that either.. you will have to recalibrate your speedometer.. and thats about it.

RE: Gear Question??
Benefits: quicker acceleration, faster access to the car's powerband (especially in 4 valves)
Drawbacks: increased rpm = less mpg(a little), increased wear on engine internals, If you do alot of highway driving, you will see a few hundred or so extra RPM in 5th. Increased tire wear from wheel spin.
