Default Oil in Intake, and MAS???

I am sure that someone has had to see this before. I was changing my intake today, on my 03' SVT Cobra, and i came across something that kinda freaked me out and caused some concern. As i took off the intake tube, that attatched to the MAS, there was a slight oily slick, kind of a THIN layer, of dried up oil. I thought it might have something to do with the vacuum line, or whatever the tube is that connects to the valve cover, but there was no oil in there. Has anyone ever seen this, does anyone know what this is??? Any help is deeply appreciated.

It is probably air filter oil from your K&N. I would definitely clean your MAF sensor with some electrical contact cleaner because it is probably on there as well.

I saw this before i installed the K&N. This was MOTOR oil, no doubt about it. Any more suggestions?

If it was definitely motor oil, then I would take stab and say the car prior to you owning it may have popped a fuel rail pressure sensor. I've seen instances where this occurred and an oily gas mix would make its way into the air intake. If the sensor is completely broke you would know because your (if it runs at all) will sputter like it is running out of gas. Also check your PCV, clean the intake and see if it comes back. Have you had your local ford dealer run an Oasis report on the car yet? If not, then do so. Perhaps, some past repair to the vehicle may shed some light on this current issue.

Good luck
