Salvage
Im gonna be looking into buying a mustang soon and was planning on just buying a GT or something. I came upon a 03 Cobra(25k miles) with a salvage title for $19500. Im not sure what the damage was yet and would try to lower the price, but i was wondering should i just stay far away from this car or look into it?
no, it isnt that one. Its black and it all look good from the pictures i have seen. From what i looked at it looks like a good repair job. Problem is i have to sell a truck and motocross bike before being able to see if i can get it.
I saw that car on another website.
Here's the deal with Salvage cars, I hope everyone who buys one turns it into a track car, or plans on owning it forever. You'll NEVER recoup your money out of the car.
Sounds like you'd have to sell a lot and you'll really be depending on this car to perform in a daily driver fashion. If that's the case, I'd be ready to buy a beater, just incase the car needs more troubleshooting than you expected.
I'd find out the extent of the damage. For an 03/04 Cobra to be a salvage, the damage had to be pretty significant... It's not like the front bumper, hood and fenders were crunched with no frame damage and the car was deemed a total loss... You can find a Salvage older Cobra or Mach 1/GT that just had significant cosmetic and very very minor suspension damage that caused it to be totalled and could be completely worth buying and enjoying for half the price, if you get the drift?

considering the value the 03/04 cars still have, i would be really leary of buying one with a salvage title. there was some serious damage to have a salvage title. i know my car had been wrecked before i bought it (no salvage title though), but also took it to a trusted shop and had them go over it with a fine tooth comb. and if you are serious, i would have a shop or two really look over the car and deem it worth the money.
