My car recomended 5 quarts of oil when you change the oil and after we emptied out the oil already in the car and put the 5 in, the oil only touches the minimum part of it and it seems to appear to not have much in at all, we put another in but its still the same any suggestions? answers?

 

I've heard some discussions that the newer Cobras take 6 to 7 quarts. However, just changed mine in the Cobra and five and half quarts got me to the middle of the fill line on the dipstick. Saleen is in the same boat (same oil pan from what I can gather).

Are you running synthetic? I don't mean to be Mr. Obvious or anything, but I had a hard time seeing where the oil was registering on the dipstick when I first started changing with synthetics compared to standard oils.

Mines an 03 and it takes 6 quarts.

 

Last time i had ford change my oil ($20 w/ coupon), they said it was extra cuz my 96 cobra used 6 qts of oil

Ya they say cobras take 5 but mine always takes 6 quarts, 5 just gives the minimum on my dip stick. (I have a 2001 cobra)

 

thanks guys, i put in an extra half a quart and itsi n the middle of the dipstick so thanks for the inputs!
