96 mustang gt with cobra engine problem
I have a 96 mustang gt with a 96 cobra engine and tranny in it. I am having a problem with the same part over and over again. Inside the tranny, there is a plate that is kinda like a linkage but it just slides back and forth to switch from 1st to 2nd gear. The plate broke on me and I took the tranny out, went to ford and ordered a new one, installed it and after 3 weeks, the same plate broke again almost in the same spot. I asked the guy at ford about this but he had no idea whats wrong and he said that he never had to order that part for someone until me. I am just wondering why this part keeps breaking and if there is anywhere I can get one that is stronger? I was even thinking of getting one made out of stainless steel, waterjet cut. The plate is made of stamped hardened steel. The part number of the plate is F6ZZ 7N232 A. The numbers on the tranny are:
F6ZR-7003-CC
RES-AB E0763
1381-002
44050F
I will post a picture when I get a chance.

RE: 96 mustang gt with cobra engine problem
Yea I don't get it. This part that broke has nothing to do with having a lot of horsepower or beating on the car. It just slides foward and back with really no pressure on it at all. I think I might just have to get a stainless steel or titanium part waterjet cut.
