Exhaust...The true story.

Exhaust...The true story.
Got tired of the teasing on the '05's so I bought one of the last of the '04 Cobra Convertibles. I thought only Porsche said there is no substitute......now I do.
Anyway, I always hear the right exhaust makes a power and or mileage difference. I would like to improve the 390HP with some exhaust work but do not want to be "cheesy" loud or spend $1000. Is there a good setup? I do not know what CatBacks are but have heard Steeda and Borlan to be good packages.
If anyone can help that would be great. Probably looking to a speedshop or an SVT dealer to do the work so I do not care about ease of installation.

Mac makes a good exhaust for cobras, my friend installed BBK LT's a BBK offroad x and a mac cat-back and his car sounds incredible, as far as quality nothing compares to borla or bassani

headers will not give you much, if any hp gains on your cobra. i got magnaflow catback, which is replacing your stock exhaust from behind the cats to the tips. i really like the sound it makes when under a load, it is a stainless steel set up, and their is no annoying 'drone' when i am cruising on the highway. cost about 400 bucks, im not too sure about the hp gain w/ this set up.

I dont know what 01GTvertible is smokin... but one of the largest power-adders to supercharged engines is long tube headers.. you can expect about 20 horsepower.. If you live in an inspection state, you'll have to pay about $400 for a catalytic H/X pipe.. and around $500 for the headers.. but gains will be significant... you can expect about 420 to the flywheel.. along with an incredible tone!! But i'm old-school, so as far as cat-back, i'd go with the 2-chamber Flowmasters..

im tellin you that in muscle mustangs& fast fords march 05 issue, they put some hooker longtubes on the 4v motors, N/A and supercharged, and if you read it it says that
"...the long tube headers showed only minimal gains on the supercharged 4.6, actually less then on the 2v...." "while you would think the higher-horsepower, supercharged four-valve motor would benefit greatly from improved exhaust flow, the longtube headers were not terribly effective." on the normally aspirated motor it gained 25 hp, which is a good amount, only about 5-10 on the supercharged 4v doesnt seem like its worth the money. no need to bash me bro. i have had a few cobra owners tell me the same thing. i was going to put some headers on my car, and now im not going to waste my money on them. the guy asked a question, and i gave my opinion w/ facts, you are entitled to yours so back off
