98 Cobra- LOUD LOUD NOISE
I just bought a '98 Cobra with 50k on it. I bought it for cheap, because it makes an EXTREMELY LOUD clunking/banging noise, maybe a little faster than every other second. When I say loud, I mean it is freaking LOUD. Otherwise, the car idles fine. It seems to be coming from the lower end of the motor. The guy I bought it from says he thinks it needs a crank, I (as well as some friends) think it's a rod bearing. I plan to do a complete rebuild, but first I'm wondering....
-What's your guess on what the noise could be??
-Any recommendations on rebuild kits, or tips from those of you who have done one?

First off, I wouldn't run it anymore because you can throw a rod if that's the case and ruin the block and maybe more! Sure I suppose you could just replace a rod bearing, but who knows how much damage the crank already has!

Ok. I haven't ran it at all and on't plan to. I plan on doing a new crank, and replacing the rod bearings. Do you think this will be enough work to fix it and make it reliable, or do I need to do more?
