Front License Plate Question

Front License Plate Question
Hey guys, off topic but didn't know which forum would be best to post this in. I know the law in the majority of states is that a front license plate is required. I'm purchasing a cobra from carmax and its got the plate mounted on front. I want to remove it but is there anyway to repair/fill the holes that might be drilled in the bumper for the bracket. It's just too tacky to be on the front. Thanks.

RE: Front License Plate Question
I took mine off, then put it back on with a FOP tag...ut the 2 holes that are drilled in the bumper really arent that noticeable. I'd be more wirred about the dirt and grime caked up behind the tag from being on there for so long.

RE: Front License Plate Question
yea i live in NY and i dont have a front plate. mines in my winshield.
Heres what ya can get. I hang out with a VW crew and they have the show and go license plates. When you're driving you slide out from the bottom and flip it up. Then when u dont wanna see it flip it down and slide it back under. it mounts under the bumper.
To answer the holes question. just trake it to a shop and have them fiberglass them closed.
Heres a couple sites:

RE: Front License Plate Question
You can also go to your local hardware store (ex. Ace) and buy some little plastic plugs. Their like 25 cents or something and then paint them with touch up. If your car is black though, you really won't notice holes

RE: Front License Plate Question
As said above, I woul dbe worried about dirt and the rubbing of the bracket for being on so long. You cannot just fill in the holes with fiberglass and paint those spots. It don't work like that. The whole bumper would have to be painted if patched. I would take the bracket off, buff and if need be wrap a wet sponge with some 2000grit sand paper and wet sand the scuffed area and then rebuff it out. I would suggest after that or if it is already clean, get those plate screws that have those screw cap covers. Ya know they have buttons that go over the ends of the screws. You can put those plastic nuts behind the bumper and all you see from the front are two black or chrome buttons. Nice clean look.
My bumper never had any holes drilled in it, so i was lucky.

RE: Front License Plate Question
My car didnt come with a front license plate so there are no holes in mine either. Its a law in ohio to have a front and rear plate but i think it looks a lot better without the front plate. I only got pulled over once by some d**k cop who sits outside of my highschool for not having the plate. He just gave me a warning though. Since then I have driven by many cops and none of them have ever pulled me over. Another reason i dont want to put a front plate on is that I would have to drill through my bumper so no front plate for me.
