97' Cobra, what do I have to do to add Mach1 Heads?
I am sorry about the double post guys, a moderator can delete the one in the 4.6L boards and leave this one.

Hey Everyone;
The wife just bought a 97' Cobra that has a brand new forged shortblock but the cams werent installed correctly gauling and damaging the heads and cams.
I have an extra set of brand new COMPLETE 03/04 Mach1 heads (same cast as 03/04 Cobra) I also have the intake to match as well as the timing cover.
What do I need to change to complete this swap? I need all the details I can get also with pics and part numbers.
Thanks guys, I really need help with this so I do it right and easily.I know the heads and everything will swap over fine, I am just not sure of the little things anymore, its been a really long time since I thought about head swapping.
Also how much horsepower do you think these heads will make. The pistons were flat top and he said would be 10:1 CR with the B heads, if I remember right the Mach1 heads offer higher compression. I think my SHM book says they are 62cc's.
Shortblock specs:
0.020 over stock Teksid block
Forged Cobra Crank
4340 H-Beam rods
Diamond Forged flat top pistons w/valve releafs.
Thanks everyone

New Information:
He said that he only drove it 20 miles before notticing the valvetrain noise and the engine overheating. The engine and trans are out of the car so I inspected it and found no traces of metal though the oil was mixed with water fairly bad.
He said that Injected Racing (Springfield Missouri) installed the cam caps incorrectly. The heads were fully ported Cobra heads with an FR500 high lift kit (he spent $1400 on just the kit and $3000 on porting) too damn bad he says the heads are toast.
We wont get the heads back for a few weeks because he is sueing the guy that assembled the block and the heads are being inspected and noted for assemblers error.
What do you guys thinks I should do while the engine is out of the car?
Here is what I am going to do.
*Fidanza Flywheel
*SFI Harmonic ballancer
*SHM oil pump billitt gears
*New oil pump
*Poly motor mounts
*Poly trans mount
Also it came with long tube headers, will those header work with 03/04 Mach1/Cobra heads?
Thanks everyone

RE: 97' Cobra, what do I have to do to add Mach1 Heads?
so are you going to get the damaged heads replaced for free or still use the mach 1 heads?
personally ide replace the k member and control arms with a tubular set. its def worth the cash. tons of weight savings, and much better handling.

The heads are coming with the car too, but I am going to use the Mach1 heads, unless the 97' heads are salvagable, which by what he says, they arent.
SO I am sticking to the Mach1 heads.

Sorry about picture quality, it was after dusk and through the windshield of our other mustang. Auto-No flash.
Picture was taken with a Rebel Xti and 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IIlens at 55mm (5.6) 1.6 crop factor.
It would have been way better had we taken the picture just before the sun went down and outside of the mustang

best bet is to contact a ford mechanic of some sort. They SHOULD know a lot more about it, i tried finding out info about a similar swap when i had my 98 cobra and it was really hard to come by

They really dont know that much about it because they are use to working on vehicles that arent modified like that. At least these techs out here dont know.
A couple speed shops out here didnt even know.
Basicly all I know is the heads and intake will go on, I dont know what else to change from there.
