Were the threads pulled? Been a problem on mod motors. Theres lots of info on the intrweb about it. Check to see if it wasn't just loose first. If the threads are wasted, gonna have to pull the head then make a choice. Replace? or re-thread/ Heli coil?

oh and as for what happened, your car, as well as mine only has 4 threads holding the plugs in, a pretty bad design they switched to 8 in 01? or 02? when the plug was put in it may have been torqued to tightly and a thread or 2 may have been stripped out, with like 2 threads holding in bang shot out of your head, probably stripping the threads in there... Heli-coil, but if its tapered like mine will not be fun, and will take up a good part of the day because you have to rig some stuff, and you need to be pretty mechanicly savvy.

i had the same thing happen to my '02 Gt, blew out my plug, and stripped the threads. My mechanic retapped the head , and installed this insert with loctite. It only cost like 200 bucks and saved my head. He said that the plug might have been loose,or the threads might have been cross threaded from the las time someone changed the plugs. I dropped it by in the morning and then i had it by the afternoon

Yahhhh id say go with the heli coil stronger than the actual casting. Go ahead and have the heads ported and cams put in while you have it apart you will be way happy!!!
