BraMas....I too have never heard of a 96-99/01 aluminum block actually "breaking" or "failing" either from big HP numbers.

I know the official reason SVT went to cast-iron was to increase torque potential of the 03/04 Cobras.....I can't find any news releases anywhere though that say they actually had any problems while testing (or even if they did testing) the aluminum block with a M112 on it. I thought I remembered seeing that back when they came out. You know what they say......the first thing to go is memory

My guess would be that they went with a cast iron block for a cost savings. Maybe the terminator project was getting to expensive and they had to find ways to save a penny.
I have no proof of this but I used to work in Automotive for 10 years and I've seen the OEM's do some pretty stupid things to save a penny

why does everyone want a crappy super charger. Those engine will not take it!!!
It will blow up if its not a 03 or 04 cobra just leave it alone. They rev hi and run really good with the bolt on stuff. You will have to drive the car easy with a power adder. If its just a street car do the suspension , brakes etc.. leave the super charger off. This will make the car faster and last longer. There is a reason why you dont see 500hp in saleens and roushes. They do more work on the suspension etc... When i did the spring, lower control arm and shocks in my 98 cobra it was so much more fun to drive and 3 times as fast on corner s than in stock form.
By the way did you look at the mach1? The solid rear will take way less $$ to make really nice. The irs sucks stock and will cost alot more $$ to make it better.
Thats interesting my procharged 97 cobra setup has about 113k on it, blower on for about 20k miles of being beat like a red headed step child and i haven't killed a rod bearing , a matter of fact there isnt a single thing wrong with it. The bottom line is your gonna run high boost and horse number on a cars then drive it like a drag strip at every light its gonna eventually break no matter what it is termy or by no means am i saying a stock 97 cobra can handle the same numbers as a termi obviously but you if you put a s/c on a 96-98 cobra its not gonna magically explode on you.

Ford didn't actually produce the Teksid they got it from a company... in italy, called teksid, who im pretty sure still makes blocks for ferrari, as i just posted in another thread, the reason for switching to the WAP block was it was much more cost effective, the italian blocks were just getting too expensive.
