Default Thermostat

Hey guys.

Been awhile since I have been on, thought I would drop in to ask a question about different thermostats.

Before I posted I searched the forums and found different theories about the situation I'm about to present, so I decided to ask your opinions on this in MY situation.

My '01 Cobra has the dreaded head tick. When the engine gets to operating temperature, the LH rear cylinder valves 'tap' from ovhting due to a design flaw from the factory. I have decided to put a lower temp thermostat to drop head temp.

I havent installed it yet, because I have heard that sometimes the engine computer reacts to the lower temp as a malfunction and runs the engine rich for a kind of 'start-up' mode. It's the 160* stat from Hypertech that I have acquired.

I also have Water-Wetter I'm going to add to further help heat transfer from the heads to the coolant.

Should I send this stat back to Summit for the 180* version?

On an additional note, I do not drive the car in winter--I store it, so warm weather is all this car sees. And dry weather.

Another addition, I will be getting gears/tune soon (wife approved), is there a setting to make the engine run more efficiently at these temps?

i would go ahead and put that thermostat in since your gettin it tuned...the tuner can adjust your computer also to help it run alittle cooler still by adjusting the fans and such...goodluck with it man sucks to hear that you have a head tick (
