Default 99 Cobra Vert. Rear wheel bind in slow turns

I recently bought a 99 cobra vert. It has been perfectly fine up until last night. I was turning left at an intersection and a loud pop came from the rearend. I pulled in a parking lot and looked at everything I could and didnt see anything. Long story short.. If I have the clutch out and am actually powering the rear wheels with the steering wheel turned either direction, the inside rear wheel skids. It does this at slow speeds and turning. It is because the inside wheel doesnt have to spin as fast as the outside one but it is like it is having to. but what doesnt make sense is that if i am doing slow circles in a parking lot and it is doing it and I push the clutch in it stops skidding and just rolls fine. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kenny

sounds like your diff took a poop on you...id be very careful what you do with the car...lets say something broke and there is a piece of metel just floating in the that can get lodged in the gears and lock the diff....if you diff locks or seizes you could kill your tranny or even worse your motor....why is cause its suddenly stopping your motor and a sudden severe stop is hard on things

Well, I dropped the catback and pulled the plug out of the diff. The magnet on it was full of metal shavings. I stuck my finger in the hole and when I pulled it out it looked like a black metallic paint job. lol. I went ahead and ordered a 4.10 Ford racing ring & pinion, a set of new FRPP carbon fiber disks, a bearing & seal kit, & 3 quarts of royal purple 75w90. So i am gonna be ready to roll. I just need to buy the tuner which i will do a little bit later. The car is not a dd. Just a weekender. I cant wait to get it all done and feel the difference. Everyone I knows who has had the 99 cobra said the 4.10's are the way to go. atleast until I go FI later on down the road. haha

Thanks man.

btw that is a nice looking term. you got. I see you had a 01 vert... my 99 is a tripple black.

ah dam that sucks!! make sure you get the gears put in right with correct spacing or else itll just shred itself again....while its all apart with everything broken lol you might wanna think bout upgrading your axels...i guess that depends if you wanna launch it hard on slicks or not...

thanks man!! i do miss the lookds of the 01 but i just cant go back hahaha

haha yea i hear ya. Nah i aint upgrading the axles, if they break I will then but I dont think they will for what I do to mod the car and it prolly wont see the drag strip much at all. Just a fast weekender that we can ride around in.thanks again.
