Not nearly enough info to make a call imo. We all know a 5.0 with those mods is running 11s, but just saying the STI is getting a bigger turbo is leaving a lot of room for guessing. He could be at ++500hp, or less than 400.

I don't know man, I don't think you are giving your car enough of its own respect. These newer Mustangs don't die up top......they just keep pulling. About a month after I bought my car an STI was rolling next to me and he rolled down the window and we chatted at the red light we caught. He told me he was making about 400 at the wheels and we both took the same ramp on to the highway, he came up next to me and we smashed from about a 50mph roll and when we hit 100mph I was still right next to him with no mods.

^ Agree

I highly doubt under 400 though. Who would put forged internals and a bigger turbo in that car then run such a low number. 400 is about the max you can get out of the stock engine, would be a waste to not run north of that w/a forged setup and a bigger turbo.

Plus, they weigh less than the s197 by about 100-150lb.

But it's the street lol who knows what would happen.

O/r mid pipe jlt intake axle back aluminum ds and 93 lund tune put my dad at 423whp 401wtq and one of my buddies 11 gt same mods as my dad plus lt's and custom dyno tune put down 433whp 407wtq...

I'm with stone there is too much on the table about the "big turbo" but this should make for a good race!

I ran a Tuned 08 STI, with my stock 11 gt. He blew my doors off outa the hole and put a car and a half on me. i ran him down no problem, but i didnt pull on him as hard as i would have liked to.

AWD launch is hard to beat. Especially on the street. At the Drag strip it would be better for you. Little better traction outta the hole.

You wont see UDP's (under drive pulleys) for the 5.0s, they have an electric water pump and steering.

There really isn't much drive train loss in the 5.0 the old standard 17% loss isn't right, more like 12-13% now.

Okay, on to your question, I agree with riptide, with a forged engine and a big turbo he could be going 500-650+whp and I doubt he is giong to be as low as 400whp.

My guess at minimum he'll match you in power and be lighter, likely he'll be beating you in power though and thus beating you in the race.

yes you are likely to be sitting around 415-420whp with a high-flow catted X pipe, you might hit 430 whp with an off-road x pipe on a slightly generous dyno.

Basically CAI, Full Exhaust, Boss intake manifold, drive shaft is about it for bolt-ons (unless you are getting an auto, then gears and torque converter) and at that point you are looking at maximum generous dyno reading of 440whp. more likely closeer to 430 though and running mid 11s @119ish. the STI if properly built could be running 9s or 10s. But then again, he better also get a transmission and clutch to handle all that power or you can pass him when his tranny blows up

^ This... No matter what, you will be doing 1/4 passes with the same transmission and rearend, and he'll have to replace the lot (ok transfer-case) twice. AWD is great, but all that torque and no wheel spin is going to break things quick if you launch it hard all the time.

And up top AWD does put a car at a disadvantage when faced against a RWD opponent with similar power and weight.
