I get the back of my car covered in rubber after I go, should see some good smoke going for several seconds.

The other explanation I can think of is those drag radials aren't very good hehe

You can't shock a drag radial and expect it to hold, no matter how hot you get them. The compound is soft enough, but the sidewalls are too stiff and don't absorb enough of the impact from a clutch dump to hold. Once you break loose, thats its for the most part.

I see the 60' and the lack of cool downs as the problem. Hot lapping equals pulled timing. I would go back and try again. Pull all the weight you can, run a 1/8th tank, slip the clutch, and definitely get some good long cool downs (push the car to thru the staging lanes), etc. I'm kind of leaning more towards some very low 13s now, but there may be a 12.9 in there.

I guess another thing I didn't think of, the people in front of you can screw up the track surface a bit(street tires, dragging the water on the track), get behind a dragster, and line up in his tracks, the rubber he leaves behind can help you grip.

I went to a 1/8th mile event, even with my drag radials I couldn't get traction, there was 0 prep on a fresh paved surface. I got behind a guy who laid down some serious rubber and finally got a bit of traction lining up on it.

+1 on getting behind a car with big slicks. Makes a huge difference.

Getting behind motorcycles is the worst thing you can do. They leave grooves all over the place and ruin the track.

what do you have as far as suspension mods? with those tires you deff have the capability of some 1.8/1.7 60's once you get the technique right. But like said again on a small sidewall dr you really cant dump the clutch.

for gas, I wouldn't want to run it any lower than a quarter tank personally. last fall when I took a customers zl1 to the track we were also chasing a number, and tried running a 1/8th tank. One of the passes it started breaking up really bad, and sadly I didn't let out of it quick enough and burned up an exhaust valve. On datalogs it was found it just dropped fuel pressure. However, at the track we didn't know we burned the valve and ran it one more time, and ran our quickest time ever with the car lol.

Greddy, my suspension mods I'm sure are not helping as they aren't drag oriented. I have cobra bilsteins and H&R race springs in the back. I'm sure they are too stiff. I dropped my tire pressure to about 22psi and I believe that's when I had my best results. Started off at 36 psi lol.

Keep dropping the air pressure. I cut a 1.7 sixty in a 275/35/20 DR! No side wall at all on those puppies.
