Default General tuner advice

Hi, Im a new owner of a used 07 GT with the 5 speed, with under 21,000 miles on it. well I just put the bbk cold air intake on it today, my brother told me to get a tuner sometime. He said either the diable or the sct x3 power flash, would be good to get. would like some advice on what one I should get. and whats this sct economizer? I do want to keep my gas milage up as much as possible.

thanks for any input.

Well... if you ever plan on putting your car on a dyno go w/ what ever tuner your local shop uses and have them burn you a custom tune. If they use diablo buy that if they use sct get that. As far as what i'd do, i'd get the sct. Get it from AM and then have free tunes for life. Plus SCT gives the users more options and has more features such as the sct economize. But listen, the econo thing maybe will get you 1-2 mpg better if that because i've tried it and didn't notice anything. If your wanting better gas mileage and you've put on a CIA & are think about buying a tuner with the hopes of better gas mileage then im affaid your miss informed. A tuners main function is to assist/compliment your other mods. Alone it wont do as much as one may assume.

I probablly wont dyno it. I have not really looked that much into them. i will probablly go with the sct x3, when the time comes. I was just woundering what the economzier was. yeah 2mpg more isn't worth it.

Trust me and about 99.99% of MF would agree put some 3.73 or 4.10 gears in as well as a a full-exhaust. Then the tuner would wake up your ride You'd have 1 bad car dude.

Standard Gear for 2007+ was 3.31. 3.55 became optional instead of standard that year.
3.73 became optional in 2010 on regular GT.

The 3.55 or 3.73 might hurt you 1-2 mpg highway but they really dont hurt any in town (some get better). That said stone stock a 3.31 only cost one to two tenths over 3.55 or 3.73. Although just like the response from a decent mailorder tune (AmercanMuscle/Bama, Brenspeed or VMP) it makes the car feel much better and more enjoyable to drive.

well see, I just got the car, and the first thing I had to do was get rid of that stock restrictive air intake. the bbk should help the engine breath a little better, and even increase mpg somewhat. I can hear it suck the air in when the radio is off and i am accelerating, and I can fell a difference even though I have not accelerated as fast as I could of. I try keep the lead foot off. anyway I just started to buy stuff, I will continue over time to get more stuff for it. I have also looked at throttle bodies. It will be a little while before I buy something else for it.
