Don't you love how fdealerships always try to pin problems on aftermarket parts. I put new shocks on my Grand Cherokee to try to fix a noise that I had in the rear, it didn't fix it and the dealership tried to say that the aftermarket shock caused the noise. Had to go to the general manager and pitch a fit to get them to admit that year vehicle had problems with the suspension bolts wearing out. They used the fact that I changed the shocks to keep from having to replace a $10 set of bolts. Cheap A$$ Ba$tards.

yeah save anything you ever take off of your car

well on my cai it only creates that constant whistle you were talking about when i hold my throttle at one certain spot. that spot has a pretty small window on it too and its higher up there, you will not hear the constand whistle unless you try to. mine makes the nice whistle/suck in noise while shifting as you said too. mines just a cheap ebay brand, on my opinion there all the same. just be careful with your sensors

oh also mine is the full intake, with the filter in the fender, i dont know if it makes a difference with that noise. ha it might be better with the short ram actually

The other advantage to the straight shot CAI is the filter is easier to get to when it's time to clean it. I like the looks of my BBK which has the filter in the fenderwell, but my budies K&N straight shot is easier to clean. The sound will be a little differant between the 2. It seems like my fender mounted CAI has a throatier sound. I also have a vert and always have the top down, you may not be able to notice the sound differance in a hardtop. IDK one of the hardtop guys will have to answer that one for you. I chose the Fender mount because it came with crome tubing and matched all the under hood dress up stuff I want to get. It's all personal preforance really. You'll love a CAI. Good Luck.

funny, i read a lot of posts on how you should either a-toss the old maf screen, since it serves no purpsose, or b-definitely keep the old maf screen, as it smooths out air turbulence before the maf, so it gets the more accurate read. i read enough "b" posts to put mine back on, but really, either way, i havent noticed a difference.

when i installed my MAC CAI I noticed a "meaner" engine sound when accelerating, when you start the car it's a loud sucking noise. After you let off the throttle, it makes a whistle. All the things were pretty cool, very slight to barely noticable power increase, no tuner, no exhaust yet. If i had to do it again, I would just replaced the filter. Though, it sounds cool it needs exhaust and tuner probably to warrant spending over $100 for an intake.

Fenderweel installment kicked my behind, I ended up making the piping a close fit. Months later the piping separated and the car cut off, so I redid the install.

I'm not an expert but I wouldnt bother buying one, and it's your only mod.

The fenderwell CAI can be diffecult to install. If you jack up the car and take off the passenger front tire, then take off the fenderwell. It's actually easy to install, It would help to have a second person hold the tubing inside the engine compartment while you go underneath and put on the filter. I had my wife hold it for me and it made it much easier. The straight shot is easier to install and clean the filter. I just liked the looks of the fendermount. If you are worried about difficulty of instalation, just get a straight shot.

i think you guys got it all wrong! you put the metal sheild thing on the tube, then put the filter on and tighten the hose clamp, and put it in the fender. then put the other end peice on the throttle body, then connect the two at the MAF and tighten the hose clamps

its been a while but im pretty sure thats how i did it? and i took it off to change my spark plugs easier and put it back on same way
