Cobra is right, the AS IS Statment only covers you if they told you EVERYTHING wrong with the car. He said it ran good blah blah blah. You have a leg to stand on. If it said "For restoration or parts only" then you would be screwed.
Have any of you guys had personal experience with this? I contacted a free legal advice forum on the net, their response was that this is called "puffing" meaning lying about the quality of a product to make a sale. In this case the challenge is proving that the seller knew there was something wrong. Their advice was that while the situation has merrit it is unlikely that I could win.
Yep SilverGTV8 is right on. It doesnt matter what the bill of sale says, if you were misled in any way as to the condition of the car then you have grounds for suit. It will only cost you about $50.00 total to take his a$$ to civil court and let the judge sort it out. You only have to prove the car was not in the shape is was promised in.
