Problems after overheating
I drive a 93 2.3L N/A
The other day I lost my water pump and over heated. It was a bad thing. I've changed my pump, oil, spark plugs, wires and PCV valve. The engine cranks and runs good until it warms up then the RPM's fall off while idling at a stop, or while in park and the engine wants to die. I don't think its a vacuum leak, my engine doesn't run ruff, and if I turn my AC on the RPM's pick back up (I think thats the computer compensating for the workload). The temp gage reads on the cooler side and the engine runs smooth while driving.
I'm perplexed, any ideas? Is there any way I could have fried one of my sensors. If so anyone know a simple way I can check it out. I suppose I could take it to a shop and let them diagnose the problem, but to be honest the mechanics I know wouldn't know any more than I do in figuring out this problem. The only difference is they would be charging me by the hour and that wouldn't be any fun.
Speaking of sensors I tried looking up information about the Engine Coolant Temprature (ECT) sensor. All I could find was the circuit diagram. Anyone know what it looks like or where it is located?</P>
