Default steering wheel question

My steering wheel is tan with a leather cover (black). The cover is pretty smooth so my hands slide on it too easy so I want to replace it. It looks like it's sewn on but also feels like it might be glued. Has anyone taken their cover off and if so is there glue residue to remove too or once I cut it will it come righ off? Thanks in advance.

Your hands slide on it? Are you greasing the steering wheel or something? I get excellent grip on mine.

And it seems like it would look like **** if you took it off. I wouldn't remove it.

No I don't put anything on it except my hands. It's been like this since I bought it and I've tried cleaning it but it's too smooth so there isn't much grip. I want to put a new cover on it but till I know if it's going to be a big mess I'll hold off.

it shouldn't be sewn or glued on. they are realy hard to put back on if you do take it off.

the leather will also leave marks on the wheel itself, but they will come off with some armor-all and lots of scrubbing

It's sewn on alright. It's stitched just in the cover and not to the wheel but it's so tight that's why I thought maybe it was glued too. I don't know if some one put armorall on it or what but it's too slick for a good grip. For now I'm going to put a lace on cover then when I can afford it a new wheel.
