porting the lower intake
i just got my intake manifolds today and im going to be porting the lower to use with the eaton m112........when i look in the runners in the lower there are liek black caps with a hold in the center in each runner....anyone know what this is
those are the EGR ports. you can grind them down and fill them in to delete or just leave them there. Here is what RPMmustangs does.

What i did with mine is i grinded them down, but those ports collapse and cause a hole the size of the whole "bump" so you gotta fill them in and regrind them down. Good luck.

I left mine in for emissions passing. If you delete them, you also need to have the EGR valve closed and the ECU modified to accept that system being taken off line. Otherwise you'll run rich when the valve opens to recirculate the exhuast gas. Running that rich over time will fowl out O2 sensors and plug up your cats.
ok so i have emissions in NJ but i might be able to go to a private place and pass but if i cant i know they dont check under the hood....now if i do delete the egr ill geta check engine light and ill be able to pull codes but if i clear the codes will they come back....when i go thru the state inspection they use OBDII to read for codes so how can i prevent the codes from comin on once its deleted
If you clear the codes using a basic hand held OBD II reader, they will come back. However, if you use a tuner (Diablo, SCT etc...), you can close the EGR valve, delete the codes and it willnever show a thing on a check. I would suggest leaving the pipe from the passanger side manifold and the actaul EGR valve in place just in case at any point they pop the hood.
Depends on how strict the emissions are in his state. Cali and AZ for example do an OBDII readiness check first before moving to the Dyno and sniff tests. The readiness test checks to see that all the electronics fuel delivery systems and emissionshave gone through a drive sequence. If one or more sensors shows it's not ready they will tell him to come back. If the system is disabled, it will never pass the readiness test.
What do you think about capping the entryway into the intake? Would it work to just delete them in the runners and leave it at that? Or would it be best to cap it right after the EGR valve also.
If the computer thinks the EGR is there, it will think that when the valve is open the motor is getting more air than it really is. This will mean it's getting more fuel than air, and result in a rich condition. You'll see poor gas milage and fowled out sensors after awhile.
My understanding is that with the reprogram, you delete the system all together. So instead of just being there and disabled, it's gone completely. I could be wrong.
