ok first of all how much bhp do i get from the cai. Im mostly intrested in bhp because thats how people at my school talk about not wheel hp. i was thinking in getting some nos too that should be good. and i am thinking of having exhaust done but i heard it kills your power because it then loses back presure.. is that true? i want to make my car as fast as posible my goal is to beat this kid with the fastest car at my school which is a 2000 civic si nos injected!!

Ummm, if you wanna make it fast buy a powerpack for ssm, then get the bottom end stroked and forged. Add a twin turbo, about 3k in suspension work, get a rearend off a gt. After all that you'll be almost set. But then again if you had 20k lying around you'd be better off with a different car.

But on a serious note, a couple things to take note of:

1)CAI's do next to nothing, they just look pretty and sound nice. Expect 4BHP MAX.

2)Wheel hp is what matters, and that is what most of the guys around here refer to. You're not building a dyno-queen TT Supra with 1000+hp

3)Unless you are getting ridiculously large diameter pipes like 3" or something, you would benefit from exhaust work. Just do it, one of the better mods you can do.

4)If you just wanna beat a nitrous injected civic, then why don't you just get a shot of nitrous yourself? You can pay a grand for a complete setup, then another grand for gears, tlok, and a tune. All that and you should take him....unless you suck at driving.

And by the way, I saw your sig, and read your comments.....you seem a bit immature and young to be racing. It's dangerous, don't do it. I see news reports of idiots that are barely 16 and think they have an R34 on the Nurburgring (sp?) and they end up wrapping their car around a tree killing thier friends and usually themselves as well. Save your pent up frustration and testosterone displays for the ladies....you don't wanna end up wrecking your car, losing your license, or worse.

 

just hook up a bag of heavy grit sand to your throttle body and pump it through the engine. you can port and polish both your upper and lower intakes and exhaust very cost effectivly that way.

LOL. Wow. I remember that post a long time ago. Even though the guy is young, lets try to screw his car up too bad :P Maybe these will sway your opinion on illegal street racing. If you want to race, take it to a track. I'll be honest with you. I'm a just turned 20 year old, college student and theres nothing that I'd like to do more than to race the people around the streets of where I am but I've also been around law enforcement for 20 years and I've seen wrecks that grown men haven't seen, and wouldn't want to see,first hand. You may think it wont happen to you but think again. Be smart, we're both young and most young people, including myself,think they're invincible. Everyone knows thats not the case. Bottom line is, don't be stupid. You can have just as much fun at the track.

Best advice anyone will give u around here... Read around in posts where everyone ISNT in conformist ******* mode and just learn from previous questions.. Google and searching this forum will answer your questions.. i bet you more than anything if uve got a question you can search for it. Now, i can also advise you that crashing your car like everyone around here likes to do is something you dont want to conform to. as far as moddingif you find something you like, dont bother asking kuz most likely one guy will shut it down and then everyone will shut it down just to fit in...
