i had a mark VII that was painted flat black, and i had very dim (purple) neon under it, it just looked bad ***. purple neon inside under seats. i got it all for free though, so i didn't really spend anything on it, just wires.

btw, it had a 347 stroker with a paxton supercharger built AOD with stage3 shift kit (reverse valve body) and 4.11 gears
dont care to much for the mark vii, but with those mods, very nice.

You want neons?
Buy them, the older muscle car guys used to ride around with them...

You asked why all the hate?
Well everything more than 5people don't like is automatically associated as "rice"

You want a body kit?
Sure get one, my bw kit has never been hated on in person (then again most of the people say the paint makes it work), And its won enought car shows. I keep a few trophies in the back just in case somebody wants to hate.

You want a System?
Go for it, why not enjoy YOURSELF inthe car YOU DRIVE.

Personally, I find neons to be an absolute waste on a DD. I mean, I've seen SUVs, ricers, and ricer wanna be's with them on just driving around town, and they look totally retarded, now at a show, it does help to stand out, as once you hit the higher levels anything extra can help, but for a DD, they're just plain stupid, let alone a car that's not a show car.

Body kits, I like, but stangs do have some absolutly retarded looking kits out, some look good, but most, well, let's just say they were probably based off a kit for a Civic.

When you think of neons and body kits though, I find that the audience that buys this stuff is generally younger people under the age of 24 that care more about flash and flare than they do all out go. What I find funny though, is that when you go to large shows, those same riced out cars hardly get noticed, and get more laughs than thumbs up. I found it especially funny at my last show that this one totally riced out stang got thrown into the wild class, then her little *** got totally owned by some of the competition, totally great stuff there.

Also, VCS_SSSTANG, personally I don't find your car to be ricer as the BW kit is one of those kits I'm borderline on, the difference between yours and others with that same kit is that you did it with taste and style, and not half ***.

Thats another thing I should have said. MOST of the people who buy body kits don't have the money to finish it off so you end up seeing primered kits that don't line up properlly, or that are hanging etc. Neon lights needs to be a SOILD COLOR LIGHT if your going to do that. The whole 24 motion neon light going down the road looks stupid & its illegal! Theirs a guy here in his 30's with solid red under his black gto, he has large brimbo calipers that are also red and nobody ever says anything to him. IF its done right its usually ok.

The way i see it... it's your ride do what you want.. you have to live with it. I talk a lot of smack with the fellas cause I got a Stang and they joke back with me about it only bein a sixer... I could care less it does the job. It's a 96 and I drive it 600 miles one way to work every two weeks then back home at the end of those two weeks. It gets better milage than other friends new cars and it handles and rides great.Live and let live. The ricers just have to compensate for not having it where it counts..

i drive alot. a mean alot. and to me, the distenation doesn't matter if you have one or both of these; good music, good company.

and right now, being still considered an inexperiance driver with my insurance, i don't need any under the hood mods. ;-)

People are just wierd here. It seems like 99% of the people on this part of the forum (don't usually visit the other sections) just wanna fit in and be like everyone else. I have no problem with people "customizing their cars", and if what they do makes it look like crap.....who cares? It's their car, why should it bother me. I can chuckle at them if they look absolutely ridiculous, but I'm not gonna hate on them all day long because they have a huge spoiler. If you like what you did to your car, then more power to you.

And also, I noticed a bunch of funny comments while reading through this post. 1) Sorry cupcakes, but our cars ARE NOT muscle cars. Maybe 40 years ago, but a v6 mustang (and I'm assuming v6 because of the section) is definitely not muscle. There is more "muscle" packed in most of the nissans and mitsubishis of the world as of late. And 2) to the "I like stuff that is functional, not flashy" guys; a lot of the stuff you guys call ricer was intended to be functional. Carbon Fiber (do I really need to explain this one?), the body kits, while most of them are just flashy, the large air dam in the front is meant to allow more air to reach your IC, lowering springs, etc....

My point is, to each his own. I had a Neon with a body kit, carbon fiber hood, 18" wheels and I even purchased neon lights even though they weren't installed. I'm sure if I had pulled up alongside most people on this forum they would have dismissed me as rice. I probably would even be a topic on this board making fun of me. But everything I did was for a purpose, other than the wheels....I immediately regreted that much wieght...but at least I looked good lol.
