Here is an example of stock tires on a GT rim. 245/45/17.
The first number, 245, is the width of the tire in milimeters.
The second number, 45, is the height of the sidewall, which is also the percent of the width of the tire. That's why if you get wider tires in the back, you'll want a lower sidewall number. 315/35/17 will have the same tire profile as 275/40/17.
The third number is the diameter of the rim.
Now as far as rims go, it's pointless to put anything more than 275 width on a V6. You should just get 17x9 or 18x9 rims. For the dimensions of rims, the first number is the diameter, the second is the width. 10.5 inch rims are cool looking, but will actually slow a sixer down, since it totally lacks the power to need such a wide tire.

Why do you want as thin as possible tires? That looks dumb. And they're a pain in the *** to mount, since they're so stiff. The tire guy will hate you while mounting them.
