EGR Error Code Question?
My father has a 2002 vert with the 3.8L V6. His check engine light came on, we read it, and the code it gave was:
P401
Engine Gas Recirclation Flow - Insufficiant Detected
Has anyone seen this code or had to replace their EGR valve? I'm being told that these engines are known for the tendancy to have carbon build up on the ports which restricts the flow which in turn will throw this code. I'm also being told that this particular EGR valve's rubber parts tend to die after awhile due to heat. It's too cold to play with it tonight, but when we address it, should we try to clean first, just buy a new EGR valve, do both, or is it something else? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
