ebrake light on?

every now and again, even though my ebrake is completely disengaged (i have an auto, so i rarely use it anyway), my red ebrake light will come on for a bit in my gauge cluster...just for a few seconds, then go off. once, it stayed on for, like, 30 secs, and during that time, i lifted the ebrake ALL the way up, and ALL the way down, to see if it would click off the light, but it stayed on....until i started cruising, and then 15 seconds later, it went off by iteself. happens at random.
any idea? thanks in advance.

Did you change out your gauges? (white face or anything?) When I put mine back in I twisted an LED wire and my blinking "THEFT" light wasn't working. Took me like an hour to figure out what my parents already know... I'm a dumbass sometimes...=P

nah, brother, it is just the stock gauges. i had been lucky..the car has about 140k on it and hadnt had any minor problems like this...now stuff is coming out of the woodwork. it comes on often enough to annoy me to want it fixed, lol.
i had a problem a long time ago similar to this. i lifed the ebrake once and when i put it down the light didnt shut off then it kept comming on at random times untill finally it just stuck on. it was a wire thats screwed onto the ebrake itself. i pulled up the center console and put the screw with the wire on it back where it was suppose to be and i havent had the problem since.

i think mustang man (at least i hope, lol, it is a cheap fix) was right. my brake fluid resivoir was only 1.2 full, about an inch and a half below the full line...som im hoping that is what was triggering the brake light. well see after i drive it around. but thanks to all for the advice!
