Default Lifters

The lady in my life drives a 2000 Mustang convertible V6, when the motor gets all warmed up on a hot day I start to hear what sound like a lifter knocking, I have the oil changed every 3-month 5W-50 as reccommended.

Does anyone else have this problem and what is the solution.

I'm thinking it's the oil so I may go to a higher V say 20W50

I wouldn't suggest using an oil system cleaner. They can destroy engine seals and the gunk that forms that holds your engine together. Higher viscocity oil may help but most likely if the lifters are tapping then they have lost there prime. They have to be replaced if they have lost there prime or you will have poor performance.
