Default Lifter ?

How can I tell if the lifter is bad? I have them out of the engine. My car has a knock in it and I've half assed pinpointed it to the back half of the driver's side of the engine. How do I go about about seeing if the lifter is bad?

LMAO!

If you don't have a repair book or the knowlegde if a lifter is in good condition then maybe you shouldn't be taking the car apart.

The lifters tick, thats just them but if you have a knock that is something more serious.

Have you tried a mechanics stethoscope yet?

If your new to the DIY mechanics game then you really ought to have a 2nd person look at it who knows what they are doing.

i know what I'm doing chill out. all i asked was when your looking at a lifter is how to tell if it's bad or not. A simple question with no bull****. If you don't want to answer it then don't post on this thread.

Best thing I can tell you is put it all together, start the car, take a video and post it on you tube.

If you have a knock it's DEFINATELY not a lifter. Knocks come from one place, the bottom end.

+1 Ryan

Your post wasnt very detailed, that leaves a lot to question.
Here is an idea, put the lifter you think it is in the front on the other side of the engine and put it all back together, that will tell you whats wrong.

Rhoads lifters are a decent replacement and can be bought at summitracing, I think the 302/351w lifters are the same as the 94-04 3.8L lifters.
