Default Which Water Pump?

My water pump is taking a dump on me at 48k miles. Should I get a motorcraft pump or does it not matter? Theres like 10 to choose from on rockauto...

Also is there anything particular about installing one?

you sure it's the pump and not just the gasket? Mine's still kicking at 124k hard miles

I agree, seems a wee bit premature for a pump to be going out that soon. I would check easier stuff first like, water level, possible thermostat, leaking hose, etc... and go from there.

Well if you do find out it is the pump I bought a new water pump from NAPA for 80 (I think) and it comes with a lifetime warrenty. I would rather have a Motorcraft part for any replacement but they are just to expensive....

It sounds like complete sh*t, like the bearing or fins are scraping. Local garage told me its the pump. I doubt a gasket or anything else would make that noise.

Well then if that's the case, it may well be the pump, kinda odd to go out that soon though, but I know stranger things have happened.
