I then later swapped the factory amplifier because some idiot mechanic got water on my factory amp while in the frame shop. The problems come because of the installer using a harness for a NON mach system so the wires don't match up and don't activate the factory amplifier.
so should i not try to do it myself if its so hard?

no it's not hard, just use common sense, you'd be surprised how stupid some "Professional Installers" are. Read instructions, pay attention, match your wires, double check, make sure all connections are tight, and you'll be fine. also make sure to get the MACH stereo harness, makes a huge difference. i would suggest soldering and shrink wrap if you know how to do it. i plan to convert my mess of wires beind the dash from crimped but connectors to soldered cause i have a few loose wires (I let a Professional Installer do this particular one cause i didnt have time. MISTAKE!!)

and one other thing is the lower rear speakers in a mach 460 system are actually small subwoofers, they have a low pass cross over built in. it's also why they have there own dedicated amplifier.
