Default Brake Light/ Shifter problem

I'm having some problems with my brake light and shifter. The car is a 1995 V6 3.8L MUstang.

I got in the car and the shifter wouldn't engage out of park and brakelights won't work.

Changed a fuse for the stop lamps and brake interlock solenoid. The fuse was blackened like it was burnt on the plastic sides but the metal strip in the middle wasn't broken.

When i changed the fuse, my brakelights and shifter would engage only when i very slightly tap the brakes. If i brake with normal force neither the lights or the shifter engage.

Any ideas? My uncle did recently change my front brake pads. A day after he changed them the problem occurred. Is there soem sort of sensor that could be messed up? Thanks.

Neutral safety switch?
Did you change the fuse with the correct amperage?

Get your uncle to track back everything he touched.
