Unhappy Takes two or three times to start. Help

Hey guys i have 2 questions i hope someone can help.

1. about 70% of the time when i start my car it takes me about 2-3 tries before it actually starts.

I have tryed:
Replacing spark plugs and giving them the reccomended gague.
Replaced the coil.
Adjusted the idle so that the rpms are at 900 - 1000.
I dont think this would make a diff but i also did a needed oilchange and Recently replaced the clutch.
The starter looks new and it doesant seem like it needs to be replaced.

2. My milage counter wasent working when i purchased the car but i changed it out and it worked for a few days and then also stoped working again, any ideas?

1998 Mustang 3.8l V6 Manual

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Could be that adequate fuel pressure isn't building up until the third try. After getting it to start once, if you turn the car off and then on does it start right up again? If so, then its a fuel pressure problem. I would start by replacing the fuel filter (it probably needs a new one anyways). Pretty simple to change out yourself. If that doesn't help, I would run a pressure and leak down test. Could be a bad fuel pump or injector. I'm leaning towards a bad fuel pump. Good luck...

Thanks for the replay.

yes sometimes its easier to start after i had just had it on, however yesterday i took it for a 30 minute drive and once there it took alot more than usual to start.
also some times the engine turns over very slowly and makes the whole car shake then finaly starts up again.

Sounds like an electrical issue, check all your connections from the battery to the starter and the main fuse panel under the hood, clean any corrosion, and reinstall.

Also check the battery. It may not have enough juice to turn the motor over, which would explain the slow turn over issue.
